WHAT HAPPENED?
Just months ahead from the World Cup, Mexico could be in for a high-profile test in Chicago. Reports from Argentina suggest Javier Aguirre’s men are on track to meet Lionel Messi and the reigning world champions in a friendly scheduled for the October FIFA window.
According to TyC Sports, Argentina have scrapped their planned tour of China for that month and are working to arrange the clash with El Tri between Oct. 8 and Oct. 14. Mexico have a date with Colombia on Oct. 11 in Dallas, while earlier speculation pointed to a possible meeting with Ecuador later that week.
The same outlet reports that Argentina is expected to play a match at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey – the venue that hosted the Club World Cup final and will also stage the 2026 World Cup final.
